  • Module 6: Contract Performance and Progress Monitoring
  • Module 7: Predictive Risk Management
  • Module 8: Software to Manage Contracts
OVERVIEW

A Contract allocates risk, responsibility and commitment between parties. The quality of that allocation depends on supplier selection and tendering processes that are fair, consistent and defensible. However, traditional contracting and tendering processes remain slow, heavily manual, and vulnerable to oversights, scope creep, and hidden liabilities.

AI now shortens much of this work, from defining requirements and comparing bids to reviewing clauses and tracking performance. Without discipline, it also introduces new risks, unverified output, leaked confidential data, and unexplainable evaluation decisions.

This course is designed to take participants through every stage of the contracting lifecycle, embedding practical AI applications, live prompt engineering, and automated evaluation tools into each step: from establishing requirements and evaluating bids to clause drafting, real-time performance tracking, and enterprise risk management.

AFTER ATTENDING THIS COURSE YOU WILL RETURN TO YOUR JOB…
  1. Identifying where AI adds value across the contract lifecycle and deciding which tasks require human judgement.
  2. Redesigning manual workflows so that requirements, tender decisions and contractual commitments remain connected.
  3. Writing effective prompts and check AI outputs against source documents and agreed criteria.
  4. Comparing requirements, bids and contract terms to uncover gaps, inconsistencies and changes in risk.
  5. Establishing clear responsibilities for handling confidential information, reviewing outputs and approving decisions.
  6. Assessing whether AI-supported workflows improve turnaround time, consistency and contract control.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND

This course is specifically structured for Procurement Managers & Executives, Tender Managers, Contract & Client Managers, Project Leaders, Finance & Administrative Officers, Government/GLC Contract Officers, and Business Entrepreneurs involved in tendering, supplier selection or contract management.

No prior coding knowledge is required; participants learn to use plain-language prompting and accessible AI tools.

METHODOLOGY
  • Interactive Lectures

DAY 1

SESSION 1: PRE-CONTRACT, TENDERING & CONTRACT FUNDAMENTALS

9:00

MODULE 1: ESTABLISHING CONTRACT NEEDS & AI-DRIVEN SCOPING

A contract is justified only when it serves a clear business objective. This module shows how AI helps translate objectives into a documented contract need and draws lessons from past contracts.

  • Aligning Objectives with AI: Using AI to structure organisational requirements, targets, and project deliverables into crisp SOWs
  • Spend & Need Diagnostics: Using AI to categorise and analyse historical spend patterns (contract vs non-contract / maverick spend).
  • Lessons Learned Mining: Extracting insights, loopholes, and failure points from archived historical contracts using AI in document search.
10.45

MODULE 2: PRE-CONTRACT FUNDAMENTALS & AI VENDOR INTELLIGENCE

Most contract problems begin before the contract is signed. This module applies AI to route selection, supplier screening and negotiation preparation.

  • Sourcing Route Optimisation: Use decision logic to choose between Tenders, RFPs, and RFQs based on scope complexity and risk profiles.
  • AI-Powered Market & Supplier Discovery: Using automated web-scraping agents and market intelligence tools to identify qualified vendors and benchmark commercial terms.
  • AI Negotiation Simulation: Utilizing conversational AI agents to assess negotiation scenarios, counter-arguments, and the Dual Concerns Model.
  • Identifying Friction Points: Using AI to highlight typical areas of commercial contention and generate mutually acceptable fallback positions.
  • Formulating Dynamic KPIs & SLAs: Structuring enforceable, measurable service metrics aligned with business outcomes.
1:00 Lunch
2:00

MODULE 3: TENDERS

A tender is judged on fairness and auditability, not speed. This module uses AI from specification to debriefing, with controls that keep every bidder on equal terms

  • The acquisition process and buyer responsibilities, including the pre- qualification questionnaire(PQQ) and invitation to tender (ITT).
  • Organise pre-tender briefings, submission requirements, evaluation, award recommendations and bidder debriefing.
  • Assess statements of work and specifications for strengths, weaknesses and ambiguity, using AI to propose clarification questions.
  • Use AI to extract bid evidence into an evaluation matrix against agreed criteria and weights, flag missing information, and check source references.
  • Anomaly & Fraud Detection in Tenders: Identifying potential bid-rigging patterns, collusive tendering, or unbalanced pricing models using statistical algorithms.
3:45

MODULE 4: UNDERSTANDING CONTRACTS

AI reads contracts quickly but can state legal points with false confidence. This module builds contract literacy and teaches participants to use AI for interpretation while verifying every legal reference.

  • What constitutes a contract - its essential elements and its role in defining commitments and responsibilities.
  • Relate contract clarity to performance, cost efficiency, consistency and business benefits.
  • Compare contract types and identify the legal framework, authority and other considerations that influence contract selection and drafting.
  • Use AI to summarise a sample agreement and map key obligations and payment mechanisms to their source clauses.
  • Validate the AI summary in a hands-on contract review, record unclear or missing provisions, and produce a prioritised checklist of commercial and legal issues.
5:00 End of Day 1
DAY 2

SESSION 2: DRAFTING, MONITORING, RISK & ENTERPRISE AI SYSTEMS

9:00

MODULE 5: THE CONTRACT DRAFTING AI

produces fluent clauses quickly, but fluency is not enforceability. This module uses AI to draft and review contracts against approved positions and to detect the traps that polished wording can hide.

  • Identify drafting essentials and common traps, including ambiguous wording, inconsistent terms and incomplete obligations.
  • Structure key provisions for scope, deliverables, acceptance, payment and responsibility allocation with clear requirements.
  • Assess contentious clauses and the relevance of dispute resolution, termination, liability and confidentiality provisions to the contract.
  • Use AI to compare clause versions, improve clarity and check defined terms and cross- references against approved source material.
10.45

MODULE 6: CONTRACT PERFORMANCE AND PROGRESS MONITORING

Value is won or lost after signature. This module shows how AI turns performance data into early warnings and supports sound decisions on change and closure.

  • Manage working relationships and address contract issues during execution through clear responsibilities and escalation routes.
  • Develop performance-based monitoring using service levels, KPIs, milestones and supporting evidence.
  • Apply change control to assess scope, cost, schedule and risk impacts before an authorised variation is implemented.
  • Use AI to extract obligations, notice requirements and owners from a sample contract and analyse performance reports for exceptions.
  • Build and verify an obligation register and performance scorecard, process a sample change and prepare a closure checklist covering completion and outstanding actions.
1:00 Lunch
2:00

MODULE 7: PREDICTIVE RISK MANAGEMENT AI

widens the view of contract risk and keeps the risk register current, but it also creates risks of its own. This module covers both.

  • Identify contract risk types and sources, assess likelihood and impact and prioritise treatment actions.
  • Allocate risk responsibilities between contracting parties and assign owners, controls and escalation triggers.
  • Examine international goods delivery responsibilities and risk transfer using Incoterms® 2020 rules and an authoritative reference.
  • Use AI to propose risk scenarios from a case contract, check each suggestion against evidence, and identify unsupported assumptions.
  • Create a risk register for supplier delay, quality failure, and an international shipment, and compare two delivery terms before recommending controls.
3:45

MODULE 8: SOFTWARE TO MANAGE CONTRACTS

Contract software has moved from storing documents to analysing them. This module equips participants to justify, select and govern AI-enabled contract management systems.

  • How contract software can support efficient monitoring, consistent records, risk reduction and compliance oversight.
  • Assess functionality, integration and compatibility requirements alongside access permissions, audit trails and approval workflows.
  • Compare automation costs and potential benefits using explicit assumptions about effort, accuracy and review requirements.
  • Explore AI-assisted document extraction, clause search, obligation tracking and renewal reminders, testing extracted information against the sample contract.
  • Governing AI use: data protection, vendor due diligence and an organisational AI-use policy
